House of Salmon consists of two experiences; the visitation center in Kunnskapsparken in Alta city centre and a boat trip to a fish farm located in the Alta fjord.
In order to improve the knowledge of aquaculture among the public, the Directorate of Fisheries of Norway has the opportunity to grant so-called visitation licenses. Visitation centers for aquaculture can be found all over Norway and House of Salmon is the first of its kind located in Finnmark. The goal of House of Salmon is to convey fact-based knowledge about aquaculture and salmon farming to the public.
Our skilled guides have their background from teaching and pedagogy and will answer all the questions you might have with great dedication!
Everyone is welcome to visit House of Salmon and visits to the center are free of charge. The salmon farming company Norway Royal Salmon stands behind and runs the center.
