Typical examples of Sámi duodji include traditional clothing and accessories such as gákti, traditional Sámi footwear, belts, shawls, bracelets and bags. Sámi craftspeople focus on creating products that are durable and functional, while also being beautiful and meaningful.

An important part of Sámi duodji is the use of traditional techniques. Many of these skills have been practised for generations. Sámi handicraft traditions have remained alive because knowledge and skills have been passed down from older family members to younger generations.
