The reindeer has been fundamental to Sámi culture and the survival of the Sámi as an Indigenous people. The entire way of life of Sámi reindeer herders is closely connected to the reindeer – its migrations, natural rhythms and needs.
At Sami Siida, you can meet our reindeer throughout the year. Some come to us in the autumn, while others are born here in the spring. Animal welfare is always at the heart of everything we do – just as it has been in our family for generations.
Through our experienced guides, you will learn about reindeer herding in Norway, seasonal migrations, reindeer marking traditions and the close relationship between people and animals.
You will have the opportunity to meet and feed these magnificent animals and take photographs – but most importantly, you will gain an understanding of why the reindeer is at the heart of our culture.
A close and personal experience with the reindeer at its centre.
