Long mountain ranges, untouched nature and silence are some of the things that make the trip between Alta and Karasjok so popular.\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-\"><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All trips start with good planning and the right equipment. In this article we have collected the most frequently asked questions about the trip across the Finnmarksvidda plateau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-where-do-you-start-the-trip-from\">Where do you start the trip from?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common starting point for the trip across the Finnmarksvidda plateau is Tutteberget, at the top of Tverrelvdalen. From here, you follow the scooter trail towards Jotka mountain lodge, over Iesjavri and on towards Mollisjok, Ravnastua and Assebakti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-do-you-get-to-tutteberget\">How do you get to Tutteberget?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From Alta city center, drive up through Tverrelvdalen and continue on Stillaveien until you reach a parking lot with a garage. This is Tutteberget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here you will find an established parking area that is used by both skiers and scooter traffic. Parking is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that the barrier in Stillaveien is closed part of the year, due to reindeer herding. This generally applies from May 1 to June 15, and October 1 to December 1, but local conditions may change these periods. If you do not have your own car, a taxi from Alta city center is a good alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-long-does-the-trip-take\">How long does the trip take?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most popular route is from Alta to Karasjok via Jotka, Mollisjok and Ravnastua. The trip is approximately 80 kilometers long and the daily stages vary from 14 to 29 kilometers. The longest stage is between Jotka mountain lodge and Mollisjok mountain lodge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-where-can-you-stay-overnight-along-the-way\">Where can you stay overnight along the way?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Jotka, Mollisjok and Ravnastua are the traditional State mountain lodges. Please note that there are two mountain lodges near Mollisjok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/jotka.no\/\">Jotka fjellstue<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ut.no\/hytte\/10589\/mollisjok-fjellstue-mollesjohka-duottarstohpu\">Mollisjok fjellstue<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mollisjok.com\/\">Nedre Mollisjok fjellstue<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ut.no\/hytte\/1026\/ravnastua-fjellstue\">Ravnastua fjellstue<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is advisable to book accommodation in advance due to the high interest in this trip. The mountain lodges offer possibility to buy food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-when-is-the-best-time-to-go\">When is the best time to go?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>March and April are considered the best period. Then there are brighter days, stable weather and often milder temperatures. However, the weather on the Finnmarksvidda plateau is unpredictable and can mean everything from brilliant sunshine to snow flurries in a few hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-get-back-to-alta\">How to get back to Alta?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The tour ends in Assebakti, and from here there is a bus to Alta.
